Hello! I am Melanie Van Vliet, a Community Bookseller for Barefoot Books.

I am a proud mum of my wonderful children and wife to an amazing and hard-working husband. I spent many hours volunteering at my children’s elementary school; assisting in the school library and being a member of the school PAC. Now they are beginning their careers and I am continuing my passion for literacy for children. In July of 2021, I joined the amazing team of Community Booksellers at Barefoot Books. The ideology of Barefoot Books is a wonderful continuation of how my husband and I have raised our children; to practice kindness and empathy, aspire to be learners in all environments, embrace the kaleidoscope of cultures around the world, accept and welcome all individuals and share in our global responsibilities of caring for nature, animals and ocean habitats.

I live in South Delta, but my childhood home was North Vancouver, BC. So I see the entire Lower Mainland as my home.
